One Sequin at a Time

My grandma passed away on Tuesday in the morning. My mom brought back her jewelry and some stuff with her. Apparently my Mimi, as I called her, kept all these little notes that I would write to her. My mom found one that she had saved that we’re guessing is from when I was around 8-10. My 8-10 year old self definitely knew what was up. I thought I’d post it because, while I have grown up and would probably say things slightly differently and include much more, this all rings very true.

 I thought since you’re a mom you would like something special, but I know that you have a lot of special things like my mom. My mom is special because she is very king and would do anything for you or her family. I know that I’m special because you love me dearly and I’m your first granddaughter or grandchild. I know Corbin is special because he has got a loving family including me. I hope you like your poem.

E is elegant because you are
V is for VERY Special because you have taught me so much.
E is for elegant yet again because you have so much beauty
R is for rich because in love you are rich.
L is loving because you show so much
Y is for young because in my eyes you are young at heart
